RESEARCHING YOUR ANCESTORS
Volunteer Jim Parsons said: "If you look at the graves you will find people from all
walks of life - there is a lot of history here." There have been more than 6,200 burials in
the Vallis Road Dissenters' cemetery.
The earliest Registers, 1851 - 1878 and 1878 - 1906, with about 4,000 burials recorded
in them, had got into a sad state of repair, but through the kindness of Mr. Joseph
Tanner, a descendant of the original Joseph Tanner (who is buried at the Cemetery) of
Butler and Tanner, the Printers and Book-binders, were repaired and are now available
to search. CD’s of the transcripts are also still available. (A £10 minimum donation is
asked for each one). They now also include a copy of those MI’s still readable in 2014.
The Trustees and Friends of Frome Dissenters Cemetery have had the registers of
burials transcribed and transferred on to CD ROMs. The CDs have been sold to people
living as far afield as Canada and Australia, who were searching for information about
their ancestors. The money raised from the sale of the disks helps with the maintenance
of the cemetery. For more information contact us here: Contact us
