ARCHITECTURE
Frome Dissenters' Cemetery is a
fascinating place to visit.
It has a charming Romanesque style
mortuary chapel and an Italianate
superintendent's cottage.
The front and entrance onto Vallis
Road is embellished with two
handsome dressed stone gate piers,
iron railings and walls, all of which are
grade two-listed.
The chapel and superintendents'
cottage are constructed from local
fieldstone and dressed limestone. The
chapel is roofed in red clay tile, and the
cottage in slate. The gate piers are of
dressed stone, with iron railings and
gates.
The chapel aligns comfortably with
the grand gateway onto Vallis Road.
From further down the gently sloping
cemetery there is a pleasing view over
Whatcombe fields towards the river
Frome and Innox Hill beyond.
